The 1975 Griggs and Sons limited edition reprint (no. 797 of 1000) of Bertram Mitford's classic 1883 travelogue in which he visited the battlefields of the Anglo-Zulu War at a time when the ruin of war was still visible on the ground, and there were plenty of Zulus willing to tell him tales of the fighting. A marvellously evocative account full of primary source material; this (hardback) edition is hard to find now (the later Greenhill reprint excludes the first chapter, present here). This is in good condition if a little grubby - dust-wrapper is a little sun-faded and has several knocks which have been neatly repaired. There is a bookplate and presentation inscription to a former owner.
