SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL, NO BAR; Sergeant T. Wright, Royal Durban Rifles.
The Royal Durban Rifles were a Colonial unit raised in 1869 Natal for the defence of the Colony; during the Anglo-Zulu War they were primarily deployed for the defence of the Natal/Durban border and of Durban itself; as such they did not cross into Zululand and therefore received no bar. A scarce medal, particularly to an NCO; Sgt. T. Wright is confirmed on Forsyth's medal roll. Good condition.
