Regular price £145.00 Sale

1888-dated mounted photograph (9x6 inches) featuring a nice group portrait of members of the 2nd Battalion, The Buffs at their barracks in Dover.

Officers featured include -
Captain Vyvyan (seated at far left) who served with the regiment throughout the Anglo-Zulu War, present at Nyezane and Siege of Eshowe.

Major Blackhouse (seated third from right) was present on the advance to Eshowe and the Battle of Nyezane but later returned to the border with a convoy. He was present for the relief operations including the Battle of Gingindlovu.

Several more officers are seen with the Zulu War campaign medal ribbon on their uniforms.

Reverse shows larger (10.5x8.5 inches) group portrait of 1888-dated Chatham School of Military Engineering Fortification Course.

Two truly wonderful Victorian period military group portrait studies. The bright discoloration seen on the mounting around the photographs is from the scanning, not present on the actual mounting card.
