Original page from a Victorian photo album with an excellent portrait of Lt. N. J. A. Coghill taken on the eve of the war - wearing his campaign beard, blue patrol jacket and forage cap. Coghill was killed trying to save the Queen's Colour of the 1/24th Regt. at the battle of iSandlwana. On the reverse are four portraits who may be connected to Coghill - one, marked Harry, is wearing a Royal Engineers' uniform.
