A good, solid Zulu stabbing spear, with an old blade 13 x 1.5 ins. The blade appears to be 19th century but the piece appears to have been re-hafted at some point more recently (as was common with spears passed down within families), and it is currently bound with coloured electrical wire. Such wire, known colloquially as 'telephone wire', was a popular decoration from the mid 20th-century. Haft has some age cracks but is still very sound. Overall length 49 ins.
