Envelope (only; no contents) for the aide-memoir of first aide to injured soldiers produced for the Anglo-Zulu War by Surgeon-Major Peter Shepherd; Shepherd was a pioneer of 'first aid' principles, and his booklet was published by the St. John's Ambulance Brigade for wider circulation. Shepherd was the senior medical officer attached to the Centre Column at the start of the invasion - he was killed at iSandlwana. Envelope is thumbed and has clearly been used but is otherwise in good condition.
