A formidable 19th Century Zulu knobkerrie, with a very large head (5 ins diameter) and short, thick handle (overall length 17 ins). Because of the distinctive shape, weight and balance of these items - they are designed to inflict one heavy blow rather than for fighting - they are generally recognised as 'executioners' knobkerries'. This is a particularly impressive example.
