Fascinating travelogue by eccentric aristocrat, Lady Florence, who went out to southern Africa to report on the Transvaal Rebellion, arrived too late, and spent her time in Zululand instead, where she radically changed her views on the justice of the invasion, and became a champion of the exiled King Cetshwayo. It was largely due to her intervention that the King was invited to London in 1882. She provides a vivid description of the state of the country on the eve of the Zulu civil war. A scarce title, generally in good clean condition but with small library stamps, chips to top and bottom of spit, and one cracking of binding.
