Cabinet photograph of General Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien. As a young transport officer Smith-Dorrien had survived the battle of iSandlwana; he later went on to enjoy a long and varied career serving in the Sudan, in India, during the Anglo-Boer War, and finally with the British Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Smith-Dorrien's handwritten ink signature across the bottom. Dimensions are 6.5-inches x 4.5-inches.
