An album page with original Victorian albumen photos from the Anglo-Zulu War on both sides. On one side an image of Fugitives’ Drift, where the survivors of the camp at iSandlwana crossed into Natal from Zululand towards the end of the battle; the grave of Lts Melvill and Coghill is clearly visible in the centre of the photo. On the other side is a view of the camp at Helpmekaar, probably photographed in mid-1879, showing the earthwork erected after iSandlwana. The interesting incidental details in the foreground include a water-cart. Both images are crisp and clear, and measure 7.5 x 5.5 inches.
