Beautiful hand-coloured print from The Graphic featuring ‘The Naval Brigade landed from HMS Active’ – an impressive line of the Active’s detachment as they were during the presentation of the British ultimatum to King Cetshwayo’s envoys on 11 December 1878. The Active detachment served subsequently throughout the Eshowe campaign. Illustration 20 x 12 ins, in a cardboard mount 24 x 18 inches.
