The Shop; The Story of the Royal Military Academy, by Captain F.G. Guggisberg, RE
Interesting 1900 book which looks at the history of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where officer cadets destined for the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers were trained in Victorian times. The book provides not only a general history but a look at the routine of the cadets, the prevelance of bullying and the attempts to curb it, as well as the story of some of the significant individuals who passed through, including famously Louis Napoleon, the Prince Imperial. Rare.
Hardback, illus, back cover a little marked otherwise good condition.
