Two original unmounted 1870s albumen photos of Zulu ladies, one apparently a married group (standing) and another an unmarried group (sitting). These images were produced at the time of the Anglo-Zulu War to capitalise on interest in the Zulu people; indeed, some of the studies of Zulu women caused a scandal because of their revealing nature, and led to a court case in London on a charge of indecency. These, however, are rather modestly posed. Image sizes are 5x4 ins and 4.5 x 3.5 ins. Good condition, the study of the unmarried group is particularly clear.
