Zulu throwing spear, isijula, taken as a British trophy, and bearing the words ‘Khambula March 29 th 1879’ deeply incised into the shaft. In good condition relative to age, overall length 37 ins. The carving is clearly quite old, likely period executed and matches the style of other similar battlefield pickups/souvenirs by soldiers from the Anglo-Zulu War we have examined over the years. A very fine piece!
